Responsibilities
- Operating and setting up Tecnau & Hunkeler finishing lines and traditional cutters and folders in bindery.
- Enter data into ERP system to monitor overall performance, efficiency, and quality.
- Perform equipment start-up, shut-down, and preventive maintenance.
- Sample and monitor product quality and make modifications as needed.
- Troubleshoot finishing line performance and quality problems, correcting and stabilizing performance as they occur.
- Replenish materials ongoing as materials are depleted.
- Other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Print & Mail Production Background
- Familiarity with print workflows, mailpiece formats (letters, flats, postcards), and USPS postal regulations.
- Machine Operation Experience setting up and running high-speed finishing equipment (inserters, folders, cutters, stackers, unwinders, stitchers, binders).
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Ability to troubleshoot jams, misfeeds, or alignment issues. Operators often adjust rollers, knives, perforators, or sensors on the fly.
- Quality Control Checking for print defects, alignment, correct collation, and address readability. Operators must ensure mailpieces meet postal automation standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to document regular activities and e-mail correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
