Operator (Expansion) I- Slitter 3rd Shift

About the role

This position performs expansion, cutting, inspection, bagging, and tagging of tubing. Duties include spooling input onto heat shrink spools, coiling input, clamping, taping, cutting, inspecting, bagging, tagging, straightening tubing, labeling and preparing orders for shipping, packing heat shrink dies in ovens, and setting up heat shrink equipment to meet order specifications. The role also requires maintaining accurate records, keeping a clean and safe workplace, observing all safety rules and regulations, and performing occasional utility work. Preparation of dual shrink tubing is also required.

Responsibilities

• Spool input onto heat shrink spools
• Coil input
• Clamp, tape, cut, inspect, bag, tag, and straighten tubing
• Label and prepare orders for shipping
• Pack heat shrink dies in oven and set up heat shrink equipment to produce proper specifications on tubing for each order
• Keep accurate records and paperwork
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace
• Observe all safety rules and regulations
• Perform occasional utility work
• Prepare dual shrink tubing

Qualifications

• Ability to perform inspection functions such as visual inspection to detect cosmetic defects and color differentiation of products
• Familiarity with solvents including naphtha, acetone, and alcohol; must use required safety equipment and follow safety rules
• Ability to stand within a 30 foot by 36-inch area with very little time to sit down
• Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds periodically to a height of 36 inches
• Constant walking with some stationary standing
• Legible writing using pens to fill in worksheet data
• Use of safety equipment including heat gloves, safety glasses, and other protective gear as needed
• Cleaning duties using brooms, mops, rags, and all-purpose cleaners to maintain the work area
• Thorough knowledge of standard and good sense practices
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and adapt to different situations
• Any combination of experience enabling sound judgments and decisions
• Basic mathematics knowledge is helpful
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential; unscheduled absences or tardiness negatively impact production objectives
