Operator / Excavator - 10,000 - 35,000 lbs.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain construction equipment including excavators, backhoes, pipe bursting winch systems, air compressors, vacuum trucks (when required), small support equipment, and trench tools.
• Dig launch pits and receiving pits.
• Excavate for service reconnections.
• Set and position pipe bursting equipment.
• Loading and unloading pipe and materials.
• Assist with trench backfill and restoration.
• Assist with setup and operation of pipe bursting equipment.
• Help align bursting rods and pulling systems.
• Support the installation of replacement pipe.
• Absorb and assist with staging pipe and materials along the jobsite.

Equipment Setup & Maintenance

• Inspect equipment daily for safety and mechanical issues.
• Perform basic maintenance including fueling, greasing, and cleaning.
• Report equipment problems to supervisors immediately.
• Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently.

Crew Support

• Aid crew members with general construction duties when equipment operation is not required.
• Help stage tools, pipe, and materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Skills

• Ability to operate excavators and backhoes safely and efficiently.
• Experience working around underground utilities.
• Knowledge of construction equipment operation.
• Experience in underground utility construction preferred.
• Experience working around trenching or excavation.
• Preferred qualifications: CDL license, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work around heavy equipment and excavations.
