Position Overview

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment used in landscaping projects.
  • Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as excavators, loaders, skidsteers, and tractors.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines when operating equipment.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, including cleaning, greasing, and refueling.
  • Prepare job sites for landscaping projects, including clearing debris, leveling ground and excavating.
  • Use heavy equipment to dig trenches, grade surfaces, and remove unwanted materials.
  • Auxiliary in the installation of hardscape features, such as walkways, patios, and retaining walls.
  • Support the construction of drainage systems and irrigation infrastructure.
  • Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies at job sites.
  • Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites as required.
  • Ensure safe and secure transportation of materials to minimize damage or loss.
  • Follow proper loading and unloading procedures to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and report any defects, malfunctions.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or injuries to the supervisor immediately.
  • Follow instructions and guidance provided by supervisors regarding safe work practices.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
  • Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to accomplish project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist team members with tasks as needed and promote a positive work environment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating heavy machinery and equipment in a landscaping or construction setting.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Certification or training in equipment operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and best practices for equipment operation.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment.
