About the role
Operate gas handling, leaching system, and auxiliary equipment to maintain required pressures and flow rates in high-pressure natural gas and water/brine systems (up to 3,500 psig).
Responsibilities
- Start, stop, and regulate gas handling and leaching equipment to maintain required pressures and flow rates for pipeline, storage, and leaching operations.
- Perform required inspections of all gas handling and leaching equipment and other systems during assigned shift.
- Identify, document, and report major malfunctions, abnormal SCADA readings, or system alerts.
- Act as the main contact during an emergency, coordinate safety shutdowns, and notify field technicians as well as local authorities.
- Monitor operating data on SCADA and other electronic devices to operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Prepare required reports.
- Work with field technicians, management, and outside customers to schedule pipeline deliveries or receipts.
- Adjust equipment to maintain maximum operating efficiency of the gas handling and leaching facilities.
- Operate and maintain valves and valve operators of various types and sizes throughout plant and pipeline system.
- Assist and advise other personnel with technical and non-technical tasks as requested.
- Perform shift handovers to update oncoming Operator on current operating conditions, issues encountered, and unusual or abnormal operating conditions.
- Participate in Company-sponsored technical training and cross-training to improve knowledge and skills.
- Remain "On Call" as required by area supervisor and accessible by phone while on call.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Accept changes in work schedule, including shift work and call outs, as determined by the Area Supervisor.
- Maintain company buildings, facilities, equipment, and vehicles in a clean, safe, and orderly condition, including general maintenance and routine cleaning.
- Promote positive working relationships with customers, producers, landowners, and internal departments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining equipment and operations associated with leaching and/or natural gas facilities.
- Knowledge of gas pipeline safety rules and regulations and OSHA standards for General Industry and Standards for Construction Industry.
- Basic knowledge of leaching, smugging, and gas handling/processing equipment.
- Knowledge of natural gas pipeline components (e.g., automated valves, flow and pressure control valves, transmitters, safety devices) and gas processing equipment.
- Knowledge of water facilities, water and disposal wells, and/or salt cavern leaching.
- Mathematical proficiency and the ability to accurately prepare clear, written documentation for internal and external reporting.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Schedule
Rotating 12-hour shifts with alternating days and nights.
Pay
Expected base pay range for this role is $64,000 - $86,500. Base pay is based on experience, skills, and knowledge. This role is eligible to participate in an annual short-term incentive program.
