Location: Sumter, SC • 12-month contract on W2 • $18.80/hr • 40 hours/week

About the role

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate movement of products within the distribution center.

Responsibilities

  • Transport palletized product within the distribution center (unload, put away double deep, bulk and full pallet pick, load, replenishment).
  • Operate material handling equipment, including high reach, counterbalance, electric pallet jack, and dock stocker.
  • Use RF Scanner and WMS to ensure inventory accuracy and track products throughout the site.
  • Ensure product integrity while performing all tasks.
  • Follow site safety procedures, including required PPE (safety vest, safety shoes).
  • Cross train and become knowledgeable in other areas.
  • Provide backup support when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred; 1 year of relevant experience required in lieu of diploma.
  • Intermediate experience with either a high reach or counterbalance forklift.
  • Experience with Manhattan WMS, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification within 2 days of employment.
  • Ability to read and interpret distribution documents in English.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment and use an RF scanner.
  • US Citizens, Green Card holders, GC EAD, OPT, EAD, or CPT only.

Skills

  • Basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • General distribution knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong initiative and drive for results.

Schedule

1st shift: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., 3-2-2-3 rotating schedule (3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off).

Physical Demands

  • Regularly walk, stand, stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, reach, push/pull, grasp, and use hands for repetitive motion.
  • Occasionally climb and lift over 50 lbs in some areas.
  • Normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and hearing sufficient to safely operate material handling equipment.

Work Environment

  • Moderate to loud noise level.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment and precarious situations.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles.
  • May require a mandatory medical evaluation in compliance with occupational health and safety laws.
