About the role
Reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for completing all assigned duties and tasks before the end of the normal work shift. Signs off on safety commitments and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for production areas.
Responsibilities
- Keep machines clean and in good running condition.
- Maintain accurate records of carton/film usage, downtime, and jams.
- Clear jams in a timely manner while following proper safety measures.
- Keep cartons/film loaded correctly during production.
- Ensure packers receive a pouch of the new code and verbally communicate new code changes.
- Notify inspectors when a new code can be loaded on the line.
- Know code requirements and change codes on the printer.
- Check cartons/pouches immediately after code changes and verify proper glue and code alignment.
- Notify mechanics of all machine problems.
- Unload cartons/film and clean machines at the end of the shift.
- Routinely check glue pots, ink bottles, or ink pads.
- Monitor line processing and complete required paperwork.
- May work on an Alternative Work Week Schedule (12-hour shifts).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to lift 60-75 lbs.
- Must meet required job-specific training located in the Training Register.
Physical Demands
The role requires regular physical activity, including:
- Walking, standing, and using hands to handle tools or controls.
- Reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Talking, hearing, and adjusting visual focus.
- Ability to taste or smell may occasionally be required.
Work Environment
The work environment includes the following conditions:
- Regularly working near moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
- Occasional work in high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, and exposure to sulfuric acid (electric battery) or carbon monoxide (propane-fueled forklift).
- Loud noise levels are typical in the work environment.
