About the role

The Liberal Helium Facility is located 12 miles east of Liberal, KS and is Air Products’ main helium liquid supplier within North America. The Operations Technician will work hand in hand with other Operations Technicians, Mechanical Technicians, I/E Technicians, and Process Engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate the Helium Plants, Air Separation unit, and Transfill Operation. This includes participating in the management of effective safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in the Basic Safety Process as a key member of the Site Safety Committee.
  • Controlling and monitoring the continuous manufacturing processes to produce helium at cryogenic temperatures.
  • Working with compressors, pumps, and other pieces of rotating equipment.
  • Assisting in plant equipment mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Calibrating analytical analyzers.
  • Learning to operate a tractor (semi-truck) for moving large containers onsite.
  • Reading and interpreting piping schematics/diagrams.
  • Applying written procedures for starting and stopping equipment.
  • Isolating systems for maintenance using work permits and lock out tag out processes.
  • Performing water chemistry testing.
  • Operating manual and pneumatic valves.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and/or equivalent.
  • Process Technology certificate or degree a plus.
  • Strong mechanical proficiency.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational perfection.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (nights, days, weekends, and holidays).
