About the Role
Kinder Morgan CO2 Company is seeking an Operations Technician for the North McElroy Unit in Crane, TX. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operations of facilities and wells.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily injection operations, including contractor and operator activities.
- Monitor SCADA systems, troubleshoot operational issues, and provide hands-on support for production, injection, and maintenance-related challenges.
- Analyze production performance through surveillance activities, investigate production variances, optimize ESP operations, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend corrective actions to maximize production.
- Lead daily safety meetings, promote a strong safety culture, and identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Create, track, and report daily costs and injection operational issues.
- Prepare a weekly field performance report for the Supervisor.
- Provide support to the Production Supervisor for all sections of the organization.
- Optimize field operations and identify satellite consolidation opportunities.
- Lead monthly regulatory meetings related to surface and production casing pressure.
- Oversee new construction projects from inception through startup with project groups.
- Write effectively and understand verbal and written communications, including email.
- Help develop written operational procedures.
- Enter work orders into Maximo.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
- Participate in call-out and unscheduled overtime as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) experience.
- Excellent planning and organization skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, particularly in lease operations and projects.
- Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and carry a company cell phone.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in CO2 EOR floods.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
- Well testing and production allocation.
- Thorough understanding of EOR production process equipment, including water injection facilities and their operation.
- Experience with artificial lift systems (ESP, rod pump, gas lift).
- Previous or current experience with LOTO, MOC, PHA, and PSSR documentation and processes.
- Previous or current experience with PLCs, HMIs, and associated languages.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and production reporting software.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience in production surveillance and optimization.
- Chemical treatment optimization.
- Safety leadership and hazard recognition.
- Ensured compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Participated in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
