a Brief Overview
The Operations Technician I supports the production of parts by performing various operations including belting/polishing, buffing, die grinding, blasting, tumbling, and dimensional inspection.
Responsibilities
- Beling/Polishing - uses conventional polishing and belting lathes based on engineering drawings.
- Buffing - uses conventional buffing/polishing lathes and appropriate materials to achieve specified finishes.
- Die Grinding - uses air and/or electric hand-held tools for specific grinding, flapping, or detailing.
- Blasting - determines proper media and machine settings based on engineering drawings.
- Tumbling - uses centrifugal and vibratory equipment for mass finishing operations.
- Completes paperwork and labor reporting transactions.
- Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
- Detects and reports faulty equipment, defective material, and unusual conditions.
- Handles and adjusts various items and equipment.
- Communicates and exchanges information with others.
- Performs tasks requiring repetitive handling, adjusting, inspecting, and positioning.
- Distinguishes and detects information such as writing and defects.
- Supports Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
- Supports quality and compliance by adhering to procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Follows work orders and designated safety rules and regulations.
- Performs weekly housekeeping according to 5S schedule.
