About the Role
Ensure the efficient and safe movement and handling of materials throughout the production process. Operate machinery and equipment to transport materials to various production areas, ensuring availability for manufacturing operations. Assist in organizing the warehouse to support overall productivity and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials to and from production areas.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas, following proper handling and storage procedures.
- Collaborate with production staff to ensure timely availability of materials for manufacturing processes.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Obtain a forklift license.
- Adhere to Copperweld's safety and environmental standards.
- Conduct accurate Cycle Counts for inventory needs.
Requirements
- Adherence to Copperweld Core Values.
- Basic computer skills for company systems (PLEX), email, and other applications.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to develop and maintain proficiency in multiple machine operations.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including continuous operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in PLEX for manufacturing and quality tasks.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking: Frequent to constant.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling: Frequent (tasks may occasionally require handling weights exceeding 50 lbs).
- Climbing stairs/ladders: Occasional (especially during wire breaks).
- Bending, body rotation, reaching, repetitive motion: Frequent.
- Kneeling, crouching, squatting, overhead work: Occasional.
- Fine motor skills (e.g., fingering to detect wire defects), effective verbal communication, and visual acuity (all ranges): Frequent to constant.
Work Environment
- Exposure to noise (>85 dB), heat (>100°F), cold (
- Use of PPE required, including eye, hearing, hand, arm, leg, and foot protection.
- Shift flexibility and possible overtime (more than 40 hours/week).
- Compliance with Hazard Communication and Hazardous Waste management guidelines (company training provided).
