Operations Supervisor
About the role
The role involves supervising operations personnel and routing drivers, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
Responsibilities
- Assigns employees to routes and special pickups for timely services.
- Sets workload for employees.
- Arranges alternate coverage for service in case of absence or equipment failure.
- Ensures accountability of route completions.
- Analyzes routes, makes recommendations, and implements routing changes.
- Makes sure work is done efficiently and effectively.
- Monitors collection practices and enforces safety policies and procedures.
- Solves customer service problems, oversees extras, and responds to complaints.
- Investigates and resolves customer inquiries and complaints.
- May recommend rate adjustments and resolve billing disputes.
- Generates and analyzes operational reports and makes recommendations.
- Ensures appropriate customer billing based on knowledge of rates.
- Notifies Operations Manager of delinquent accounts and assists in their collection.
- Performs or reviews pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Investigates and reports on worker injuries, accidents, and other incidents.
- Maintains time records and manages attendance issues.
- Drives trucks, as needed.
- Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
- May dispatch or be backup for dispatch duties.
- Participates in community and business meetings and events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Management experience in waste industry/recycling programs, transportation, production and logistics operations or related field.
- Valid Drivers' License required.
- Knowledge of principles of employee training, supervision, and evaluation.
- Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
