Operations Supervisor - 3rd Shift

About the role

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the physical manipulation of mail/small parcels within, into, and out of assigned Distribution Centers. They ensure the process meets customer and internal requirements and is completed efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Supervise employees, quality processes, and transportation in line with DHL eCommerce policies and procedures to achieve optimal quality and profitability.
• Establish a team-oriented environment focusing on teamwork, empowerment, fairness, and consistency.
• Ensure proper staffing by department and shift, adhering to guidelines based on scheduled volume.
• Manage employee attendance and time, conduct performance reviews, coach, and train direct employees.
• Maintain facility equipment, monitor productivity, KPIs, and quality reports, and recommend improvements.
• Support the business plan through timely and accurate operations, maintaining cost and quality efficiencies.
• Oversee safety activities, ensuring compliance with DHL’s safety policy and conducting bi-annual training.
• Act as a liaison between the facility and on-site postal clerks, keeping updated on postal rate/regulatory changes.
• Support HR in the recruitment and interview process of new hires.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Understanding of small parcel logistics.
• Experience in improving operations quality and safety programs.
• Experience in implementing and applying process improvement tools like 5S.
• Demonstrated success in supervising and driving improved production standards and automation utilization.
• Minimum Required HS Diploma/GED with 2 years of external supervisory experience or 1 year of DHL eCommerce Operations Trainer/Quality experience.
• 2 years’ experience working in a distribution/mail or similar environment.
• Knowledge of operations quality and safety programs.

• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate, delegate, and hold direct reports accountable to production objectives.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
