About the Role

As an Operations Supervisor at DHL, you will execute policies and procedures to manage the physical manipulation of mail and small parcels within, into, and out of an assigned Distribution Center. Your role ensures the entire process meets customer and internal requirements while being organized, efficient, and safe.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes.
  • Supervise employees, mail/small parcel processing, quality processes, and transportation to align with DHL eCommerce policies and procedures, optimizing quality and profitability.
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, employee involvement, empowerment, fairness, and consistency.
  • Ensure proper staffing by department and shift based on scheduled mail/small parcel volume; oversee attendance and time management.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coach, and train direct employees.
  • Monitor and ensure facility equipment operates correctly and meets production standards.
  • Support the ongoing development and implementation of the DHL eCommerce Distribution Center Business Plan through timely and accurate fulfillment and operations while maintaining cost and quality efficiencies.
  • Review productivity, KPI, and quality reports to ensure departments meet pre-established targets; take corrective action when necessary.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, working conditions, and efficiencies.
  • Oversee safety activities, ensuring compliance with DHL’s safety policy and conducting bi-annual Safety Methods and Employee Training.
  • Support the HR Business Partner in recruiting and interviewing new hires.
  • Act as a liaison between the facility and on-site postal clerks; stay updated on postal rate and regulatory changes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of external supervisory experience or 1 year of DHL eCommerce Operations Trainer/Quality experience.
  • 2 years of experience in a distribution, mail, or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of operations quality and safety programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Understanding of Small Parcel Logistics.
  • Experience improving operations quality and safety programs.
  • Experience implementing process improvement tools such as 5S.
  • Demonstrated success in supervising and driving improved production standards and automation utilization.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate, delegate, and hold direct reports accountable to production objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands

  • Consistent with a warehouse environment: frequent exposure to cold, hot, and changing temperatures; constant medium-level noise; frequent exposure to dust, dirt, and varying lighting.
  • May require pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs (additional weight may require assistance).
  • Frequent walking throughout the warehouse to supervise employees.

Pay

Salary range: $69,525 - $92,700. This range is a reasonable estimate and may vary based on skills, experience, location, and comparison to other employees in the role.
