OPERATIONS SAFETY LEAD

About the role

As an Operations Safety Lead, you’ll implement and oversee safety programs and initiatives across our operations. You’ll identify potential hazards, drive compliance with safety standards, and foster a culture where every associate works safely and confidently. This role is ideal if you are passionate about safety and want to make a tangible impact by leading by example to keep our workplace accident-free.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.
• Oversee Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management-related matters.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead safety training sessions for employees to promote a culture of safety and awareness.
• Interview associates on knowledge of safety programs and ensure appropriate training is provided.
• Collaborate with management to establish safety goals and monitor progress toward achieving them.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Serve as a resource for safety-related inquiries and provide guidance to team members on best practices.
• Promote continuous improvement of safety programs and initiatives across all operational areas.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a comparable field.
• Preferred experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.
• High School diploma or equivalent is beneficial but not required.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Ability to tolerate exposure to wet and moist floors, including metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs by reaching, bending, and pushing boxes.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection as required.
• May work in an environment with varying temperatures between 25°F and 100°F.
• May handle products varying in temperatures between 25°F to 50°F.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 dB to 110 dB.
• Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors (10 ppm) and chlorine (less than 20 ppm).

Pay

This position has a base rate of $22.07 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials, and overtime where applicable. An annual bonus is available, variable depending on performance.
