Operations Research Analyst

About the role
As an operations research analyst, you’ll evaluate data assessment strategies such as statistical analysis, data mining, modeling, simulation, and decision analytics to deliver solutions for military and intelligence community (IC) operations and planning. You’ll work alongside military and IC subject matter experts, analysts, and other technical professionals to conduct research, prepare graphs and charts, and analyze and interpret programmatic and/or cost data.
You’ll develop analytical reports, program briefs, technical documentation, presentations, graphs, and other decision-support products to present results, collaborate with stakeholders, and participate in program meetings to improve program efficiency. Using your passion for analytics and statistics, you’ll devise modeling and measuring techniques utilizing mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, operational mathematics techniques, and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines.
This role involves developing technologies and concepts that advance military and intelligence community operations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate data assessment strategies including statistical analysis, data mining, modeling, simulation, and decision analytics to solve complex problems.
- Conduct research, prepare graphs and charts, and analyze and interpret programmatic and/or cost data (e.g., statistical analyses, cost and benefit analyses, what-if analyses).
- Develop analytical reports, program briefs, technical documentation, presentations, graphs, and other decision-support products.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in program meetings to improve program efficiency.
- Apply operations research knowledge to devise modeling and measuring techniques using mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, and operational mathematics (e.g., linear programming, probability theory, statistical modeling, optimization, simulation).
- Translate complex analytical results into actionable recommendations and decision-support products for senior leadership.
- Support senior leadership decisions through quantitative analysis, modeling, simulation, and other analytic methods.
Requirements
- Experience designing, developing, and applying decision analytics, mathematical and statistical techniques, data mining, modeling, and simulation to address operational and planning challenges.
- Experience applying operations research and decision analytics techniques to military and/or Intelligence Community (IC) missions.
- Knowledge of operations research, mathematical and statistical methods, decision analytics, data mining, modeling, and simulation.
- Knowledge of advanced mathematical, statistical, modeling, and simulation methodologies used to address complex operational and planning problems.
- Ability to apply analytic methods and military and/or IC judgment to support operational planning and senior leadership decision-making.
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (required).
- BS degree and 12 years of related experience or HS diploma and 17 years of related experience.
Pay
The projected compensation range for this position is $55.28 to $71.79 per hour. Compensation is determined by factors including location, education, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
