About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a Full-time Operations Research Analyst (NH-1515-03) to work for Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the AFSC Staff, located at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. This position offers a rewarding career with benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares program office estimates, life cycle cost estimates, and independent cost estimates for program managers and higher headquarters in support of resource decisions for management of weapon systems for the AFSC and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
  • Achieves business case analyses that provide viable strategic business solutions to decision makers in support of acquisition and sustainment initiatives.
  • Prepares the Economic Impact Assessment detailing the economic impact of Tinker, Robins, or Hill AFB on the "State" and its local metropolitan economies.
  • Provides program policy and procedures guidance and consolidates input for OL Directors and other FM senior leaders to answer SAF/FM, AFMC/FM, AFSC/CC inquiries, when required.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • May be required to travel to perform temporary duty.
  • Acquire and maintain APDP certification.
  • Acquire and maintain Financial Management certification.

Qualifications

  • Education: In operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of a broad range of operations research analysis techniques and possession of analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
  • Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts.
  • Ability to lead study teams and originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.
  • Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques, and design, build and use models and simulation techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations.

Pay

2026 Salary Range ($89,508 - $138,370) yearly w/ locality
