Operations Readiness Startup Engineer
Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Operations Readiness Startup Engineer and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Assist in completing activities during Readiness Reviews and implementations including, scheduling activities, equipment walk downs, initial procedure and training development, coordination of response to Readiness Review findings and observations.
- Represent the group in organization and schedule meetings by representing adequate plant knowledge, startup impacts, operations impacts, and possess Technical Safety Requirement (TSR) knowledge.
- Underground walk downs may be required dependent on project needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with nine (9) years of relevant experience, or Associate’s degree with thirteen (13) years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma or Equivalency with seventeen (17) years of relevant experience is required.
- Five (5) years of Nuclear Operations experience is mandatory.
- Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances.
Preferred Requirements
- Preference given to candidates with ten (10) years of combined operations starting up nuclear processes or facilities.
- Demonstrated experience with achieving authorization to operate nuclear operations is desired.
- In depth knowledge of DOE Order 425.1D, and DOE standard 3006-2010 is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have five (5) years of experience working with Documented Safety Analysis's and in-depth knowledge of the application of Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs).
- Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
