The Operations Manager role is responsible for managing all aspects of a supply chain operation, providing overall direction and oversight in areas such as performance, safety, P&L management, customer relations, continuous improvement, and associate development across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Direct the operations of distribution, packaging, and transportation to achieve company objectives and meet customer expectations.
- Evaluate overall operations and develop short and long-term goals to meet organizational objectives, including ramp-up and peak volume planning.
- Oversee all warehousing, distribution, packaging, and transportation operations to ensure company and customer requirements are met with a strong focus on speed, accuracy, and on-time fulfillment.
- Focus on continuous improvement and make decisions about enhancing value, service effectiveness, and profitability using data-driven metrics and lean methodologies.
- Ensure safety of all associates, equipment, and property.
- Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and government regulatory requirements.
- Direct and oversee programs to ensure safety of all associates, equipment, and property.
- Directly manage budget and P&L for operations.
- Develop work plans ensuring appropriate staffing levels, managing labor costs, overtime, retention, and workforce planning for peak volumes.
- Maximize quality and productivity by understanding and mastering all job standards for each function and evaluating performance variances to identify root cause, corrective action, and training needs.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports.
- Deliver a consistent, high-performance experience to our associates and customers.
- Maintain a visible, floor-focused leadership presence to remove barriers, support teams, and drive real-time problem solving.
- Build and sustain a culture of accountability, engagement, and ownership while motivating and developing high-performing teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of management experience with comprehensive knowledge in high-volume, fast-paced 3PL, distribution, warehouse, and transportation environments.
- High-volume e-commerce fulfillment experience.
- Strong background in both inbound and outbound operations.
- Experience leading teams in fast-paced, high-accountability environments with a focus on engagement, retention, and performance.
- Demonstrated ability to drive productivity, quality, and service improvements using data, metrics, and performance KPIs.
- Experience with workforce planning, labor management, and peak volume scaling.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and communication styles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, warehouse management systems (WMS), and performance measurement tools.
- Strong presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen principles preferred.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Experience with ADP platforms, including Workforce Now, Workforce Manager, and ADPRM, helpful.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs.
