About the role
The Operations Manager will oversee daily waste collection operations, including route performance, driver leadership, safety, fleet coordination, customer service, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proven waste industry leader who can build strong teams, improve KPIs, and create a culture centered around safety, accountability, and service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily residential, commercial, industrial, and/or roll-off waste operations.
- Lead, coach, and develop drivers, supervisors, and field employees.
- Improve route efficiency, productivity, safety performance, and service quality.
- Monitor operational KPIs including safety, labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive safety initiatives, compliance standards, and employee accountability.
- Partner with maintenance teams to improve fleet reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assist with budgeting, cost control, staffing, and operational improvements.
- Resolve customer and operational challenges while maintaining high service standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in waste management, environmental services, transportation, logistics, or related operations leadership.
- Experience managing drivers, routes, and field operations.
- Proven success improving safety, productivity, retention, and operational results.
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Site Manager, District Manager, or Senior Route Manager preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze performance metrics and implement improvements.
- CDL Class A/B preferred but not required.
