Operations Management Trainee
About the Role
The Operations Management Trainee will support the shop management process and assist in cost savings, customer retention, and metric-based initiatives. This program is fast-paced and touches every aspect of the business unit, allowing you to acquire proven industry knowledge, skills, and resources to develop your operations and fleet maintenance background. The role works cross-functionally across Operations, Asset Management, Sales, Quality, and Rental Management. Ryder promotes from within based on performance, with the ideal progression path leading to an Ops Supervisor role.
This is an opportunity to learn how to manage a heavy-duty truck repair shop while being paid to train. Relocation within the business unit at the conclusion of the training program is required.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for customer relationship activities, including quality customer interface, proactive customer management, issue resolution, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the rental department to ensure maximum utilization without compromising lease customers.
- Partner with Sales staff on customer calls for new business and increased customer satisfaction.
- Manage running costs and maintenance overheads, ensuring policy and processes are followed to optimize costs.
- Accountable for coordinating with Maintenance, Asset Management, Sales, and Marketing to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ensure accurate PM scheduling and follow-up, breakdowns, and vehicle status updates; oversee Technician work planning for efficiency, training, and flexibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Required).
- 1 year or more in customer service with issues resolution experience (Preferred).
- Strong PC knowledge/skills, including advanced spreadsheet and word processing software (Required).
- Basic understanding of Business Finance, controls, and metrics (Beginner level, Required).

Schedule
Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Work schedules are subject to change as the trainee progresses in the program.
Pay
Paid weekly. Salary is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant’s skills, prior relevant experience, and certain degrees or certifications. Salary range: $55,000 per year.
