About the role
United Companies, a CRH Company, is seeking entry-level internships/trainee positions in the construction field. Positions are available throughout our many Southeastern Colorado locations.
Responsibilities
- Learn how to find, bid and build heavy construction projects
- Set up contracts and subcontracts
- Work with and assist estimators, project managers and construction crew foremen
- Spend time with foremen learning how to prepare and set up jobs
- Work with Operations Manager/accounting on monthly projections
- Understand job cost
- Review financial statements
- Aid in project takeoffs and tracking
- Train other users of infield including managers and approvers how they can utilize the program for job management
- Support employees in safely providing the preferred source to customers
- Conduct on-site safety inspections
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a related field degree program
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA standards

Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, reaching above shoulders, lifting up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and/or heat
- Moderate to loud noise levels
