About the role
The Operations Engineer leads and manages the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. This role involves partnering with internal customers and stakeholders to plan and implement facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage complex project lifecycles across organizations and geographies, delivering on objectives and targets as project owner.
- Participate in engineering reviews, providing tangible impact on system solutions, architecture, and facility processes.
- Partner with internal teams, stakeholders, and vendors to set priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules. Proactively identify dependencies, problem-solve, and mitigate risks.
- Lead execution of systems and automated equipment designs per established standards. Perform installation, throughput, and safety qualifications. Optimize systems and resolve technical deficiencies.
- Facilitate effective meetings with clear objectives and appropriate stakeholders. Document discussions, decisions, and action items to ensure alignment.
- Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans promptly and accurately. Provide clear, concise summaries to leadership.
- Articulate system and equipment designs, including layouts, specifications, and capabilities to internal customers and partners.
- Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice approvals efficiently.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that enhance team efficiency and deliver cost-effective solutions.
- Travel up to 80% domestically, with variable intensity including extended trips up to three weeks.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
- Experience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level.
- Experience working with and managing third party vendors.
- Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field.
- Operations Management/Distribution Center experience with direct management or responsibility for material handling, automation, or other technical projects.
- Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet programs.
- Experience with design and/or implementation automation solutions, such as Conveyors, Sorters, high speed manufacturing and packaging lines, Robotic work cells.
- Proven technical leadership for industrial engineering projects or program.

Base salary range for this position is listed below. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Schedule
This role requires up to 80% travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.
