About the role

Fishers Event Center has an immediate opening for a part-time Operations Crew Member. Under general supervision, you will perform work needed to clean, maintain, and prepare the facility for events. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks that often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical exertion.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of the conversion process in preparation for events, including setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, operable walls, barricades, staging, tables, and other furnishings or equipment.
• Perform various duties to ensure day-to-day facility operations, such as loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash to disposal areas, and replenishing supplies.
• Assist with pre- and post-event cleaning and janitorial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, spot cleaning, washing, stripping, carpet cleaning, window washing, and waxing.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting, patching, re-lamping, replacing ceiling tiles, and replacing filters.
• Assist building engineers and subcontractors in construction, repair, and maintenance of the building.
• Report irregularities, discrepancies, safety concerns, damage, or loss of property promptly to a supervisor.
• Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Assist in ice maintenance and repair, including installing/taking out ice, hockey wall maintenance, and related ice rink systems maintenance and repair.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and one (1) to three (3) months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set-up and conversions, cleaning and maintenance methods, and proper use of hand and power tools.
• Follow all policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures.
• Meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing.
• Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, Zamboni machines, scrubbing machines, or other light power-driven equipment.
• Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
• Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines, work effectively under pressure, and produce accurate results.
• Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
• Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others.
• Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle.
• Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

Schedule

• Part-time, including extended and/or irregular hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility and stand for long hours during events. Work may take place inside or outside the building, depending on event needs.
