Responsibilities
The Operations Associate maintains primary responsibility for all operational elements of a small to mid-sized office.
- Manage the branch cash vault to within prescribed limits and serve as the vault custodian. Master the use of the bank’s cash forecasting system.
- Serve as the branch’s ATM custodian; ensure it remains stocked, functional, and balanced daily.
- Audit all negotiable instruments, cash drawers, foreign currency (if applicable), and related logs to ensure adherence to defined policies and procedures.
- Handle all operational components in the branch, such as balancing and researching cash errors, filing necessary BSA forms, and ensuring compliance and security.
- Stay abreast of all compliance and security requirements and implement processes within the branch to ensure regular adherence.
- Routinely review new account opening documentation, including complex items (e.g., corporate resolutions, business customer profiles, high-risk businesses) to ensure adherence to bank policies and procedures.
Incumbents in this position are skilled in both sales and transactional capacities and personally service all customers by:
- Opening deposit accounts and taking loan applications for various lending units.
- Closing consumer loans.
- Making referrals to other bank business lines and third-party partners.
- Handling routine account maintenance and other servicing issues.
- Processing monetary transactions such as cashing checks, making deposits, selling monetary instruments, buying/selling foreign currency, and processing credit card cash advances.
- Maintaining safe deposit records, including contracts and access slips, and assisting customers with access to safe deposit boxes (if applicable).
Problem Solving and Decision Making
Balance policy and procedure with appropriate judgment to make decisions mutually beneficial to the bank and the customer. If written policy is unclear or there is uncertainty, seek guidance from an Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, Regional Manager, or Retail Administration.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and be technically literate.
- Outgoing self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in customer service.
- Basic business acumen and professionalism required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and alliances across the organization.
- Quickly learn all products and services offered by the bank.
Working Conditions
- Ability to stand for up to five hours at a time without a break.
- May be required to lift and/or move coin/currency bags weighing 25-30 pounds.
