Position Summary

The Manager of Operations and Logistics is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations and logistics of the organization. This role involves coordinating various departments to ensure the efficient movement of goods, resources, and services. The Manager will lead a team to manage supply chain processes, improve operational workflows, ensure timely deliveries, and uphold quality standards.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, including production, distribution, and resource management. Develop, implement, and optimize operational policies and procedures. Ensure the efficient use of company resources, including staff, equipment, and materials. Monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Manage the logistics and supply chain operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management. Ensure timely delivery of goods and services, both internally and externally. Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers to maintain effective relationships and ensure cost-effective solutions. Oversee inventory levels, order fulfillment, and stock accuracy to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations and logistics staff to achieve departmental goals. Set performance objectives, conduct evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback and training. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Strategic Planning and Process Improvement: Develop and execute long-term strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and quality. Work closely with other departments to align operational goals with overall business objectives.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and internal policies. Conduct regular audits and assessments to maintain operational integrity and safety protocols. Address any operational or logistical risks promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Financial Management: Manage operational budgets and monitor expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness. Analyze financial data to assess the profitability of logistics operations and identify opportunities for savings. Report on operational and logistical performance, including key financial and operational metrics.

Working Conditions

This role typically operates in an office environment with occasional visits to warehouses, production sites, or distribution centers. Travel may be required to meet with vendors, suppliers, or third-party logistics providers.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Requires:
    • 5+ years of prior Operations experience
    • Proven experience in operations and logistics management, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role
    • Experience in lean manufacturing or process improvement methodologies
    • Certification in logistics, supply chain management, or project management (e.g., PMP, APICS, Six Sigma)
    • Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics, and operational processes
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and develop strategic solutions
    • Proficiency in logistics software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Knowledge of industry FDA regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
