About the role

We're partnering with an industry-leading manufacturing organization to identify a talented Level 2 Automation Engineer to join a highly advanced production facility on Alabama's Gulf Coast. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies, develop software that directly impacts manufacturing operations, and contribute to one of North America's most technologically advanced industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Level 2 automation systems supporting a high-volume manufacturing operation
  • Design and implement software solutions using languages such as C#, C++, and FORTRAN
  • Maintain and optimize SQL databases containing critical production and process data
  • Analyze production performance and troubleshoot automation issues to improve system reliability and efficiency
  • Support Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications and other digital manufacturing tools
  • Conduct root cause analysis and incident investigations using specialized diagnostic tools
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and IT teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Use statistical analysis and process data to optimize manufacturing performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong programming skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to learn complex industrial processes and work independently while collaborating across teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial process automation or Level 2 automation (Purdue Model)
  • .NET Framework, C#, C++, or similar programming languages
  • Oracle SQL or other SQL database platforms
  • HMI platforms such as WinCC
  • Metals, steel, or other heavy manufacturing industries

Schedule

Monday–Friday, daytime hours, with occasional extended hours during peak production periods.
