Operating Room Ops Clin Lead

About the Role

Leads and facilitates the daily operations of the Operating Room. Supports and facilitates implementation of evidence-based practice and serves as a resource within Sarasota Memorial Health Care System for information, education, and training for the Service Lines within their specialty area. Responsibilities include supervising colleagues, staffing rooms appropriately, coordinating adjustments to the schedule with anesthesia, and proactively working with surgeons to expedite the surgery schedule safely and efficiently.

Participates in room set-up, coordination of equipment and supplies, and room turnover. Acts as liaison between ASU and SPD and works to anticipate and adjust the schedule to avoid equipment conflicts between surgeons. The Clinical Lead OR Operations is part of a team of three responsible for department staffing/scheduling, policies and procedures for the OR, and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate daily operations of the Operating Room.
• Supervise colleagues and ensure appropriate staffing for operating rooms.
• Coordinate schedule adjustments with anesthesia and surgeons to expedite the surgery schedule safely and efficiently.
• Participate in room set-up, coordination of equipment/supplies, and room turnover.
• Act as liaison between ASU and SPD to anticipate and resolve equipment conflicts.
• Support implementation of evidence-based practices and serve as a resource for education and training.
• Contribute to department staffing/scheduling, policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required within a specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy.
• Two (2) years of current satisfactory OR RN experience.
• One (1) year of experience in the specialty area.
• CNOR certification or attainment within six (6) months of hire or promotion.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including handling difficult situations diplomatically.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and understanding of group processes and teamwork.
• Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with OR stakeholders: surgeons, colleagues, and anesthesia staff.
• Ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving expertise.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
• FL RN: Florida Registered Nurse License
