About the role

This role is onsite 5 days a week, reporting to the Director of Management Services. The Operating Room Materials Manager will manage, implement, measure, and direct all Supply Chain-related activities within the Operating Room and Procedural areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perioperative and Procedural Inventory Management - 60%
    • Oversee day-to-day Supply Chain operations within the Operating Room (OR) and Procedural areas, including requisitioning, inventory, and delivery of all OR supplies.
    • Ensure timely ordering of goods and services by processing requisitions, confirming price, shipping terms, delivery dates, and orders.
    • Communicate daily with surgical staff, schedulers, surgery management, vendors, and physicians to ensure supply availability for scheduled cases.
    • Maintain knowledge of contracts and communicate with vendors to ensure adherence to current contractual pricing.
    • Update materials management records to ensure accurate purchase order, price, quantity, vendor, and receipt information for all supplies ordered.
    • Work with accounts payable to reconcile inquiries regarding invoices, purchase orders, and received supplies.
    • Receive supplies, stock and deliver to proper areas, and maintain clean and orderly storage spaces.
    • Collaborate with Materials Management staff for shipping repairs and returns to vendors, completing proper credit or return paperwork.
    • Maintain documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
    • Resolve issues related to backorders, out-of-stock items, returns, price changes, substitutions, and other Materials Management concerns.
  • Management - 25%
    • Manage the OR Supply Chain Technician.
    • Oversee physical inventory counts at various times during the fiscal year and at year-end.
    • Serve as liaison between Operating Room staff/management and Materials Management staff/management.
  • Inventory Analytics - 15%
    • Conduct analysis of top cost items to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
    • Establish par levels for all supplies and requisition inventory through the purchasing IS system.
    • Make recommendations for new product and capital purchase projects.

Requirements

  • Work Experience: 5 or more years of applicable experience.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills: Organization, Customer Service, Inventory Management (OR, IR, Cath Lab, EP), Analytics.
  • Experience: Graduate from Surgical Technology program and/or Clinical training; 3+ years in medical purchasing/materials management/surgical environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Working Conditions

  • Hospital environment.
  • Physical Demands: Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Pay

Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $72,000 - $120,000. Final salary depends on departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location.
