Operating Room Environmental Services Technician - Full Time

About the role

Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Facility: Black Hills Surg Hosp, Location: Rapid City, SD, Address: 216 Anamaria Dr, Rapid City, SD 57701, USA.

Responsibilities

• Emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; ability to apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff.
• Cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Wearing proper protective equipment following appropriate guidelines.
• Keeping storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Using pagers and other technology appropriately when needed.
• Assisting in laundry areas as appropriate.
• Physical activities including considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull up variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
• Being on feet for the majority of the shift.
• Exposure to certain levels of noise with equipment in operation.
• Work hours may vary depending on patient/resident needs, may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience helpful.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Pay

Salary Range: $17.20 - $22.50 per hour.

Schedule

Shift: 8 Hours - Evening Shifts. Job Schedule: Full time, Weekly Hours: 40.00.
