Operating Engineer - Pittsburgh, PA

This position is open to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers.

About the role

The Operating Engineer is responsible for properly operating all mechanical systems; performing selected preventive and corrective maintenance duties as directed; and monitoring and operating building automation system hardware, software, sensors, and components. The incumbent will oversee the operation, preventive, and corrective maintenance for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as directed.
• Monitor and operate building automation systems (BAS) controlling a large and complex physical plant.
• Work with computer-based energy management systems and DDC controls.
• Be mobile around campus, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in confined spaces such as manholes and utility tunnels.
• Climb ladders, maneuver in small areas, and lift equipment and supplies.

Requirements

• Minimum Class 4 City of Pittsburgh Power Engineers License or equivalent NIULPE certification.
• Universal CFC Certification.
• Minimum of three years’ experience as a licensed stationary or operating engineer.
• Minimum of three years’ experience monitoring and operating building automation systems.
• Computer-based energy management systems and DDC control experience preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Combination of education and relevant experience may substitute for education or experience requirements.

Schedule

• Sunday & Monday: 10 PM – 6 AM
• Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 6 AM – 2 PM
