About the role
The Operating Engineer is responsible for properly operating all mechanical systems; performing selected preventive and corrective maintenance duties as directed; and monitoring and operating building automation system hardware, software, sensors, and components. The incumbent will oversee the operation, preventive, and corrective maintenance for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as directed.
- Monitor and operate building automation systems (BAS) controlling a large and complex physical plant.
- Work with computer-based energy management systems and DDC controls.
- Be mobile around campus, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in confined spaces such as manholes and utility tunnels.
- Climb ladders, maneuver in small areas, and lift equipment and supplies.
Requirements
- Minimum Class 4 City of Pittsburgh Power Engineers License or equivalent NIULPE certification.
- Universal CFC Certification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a licensed stationary or operating engineer.
- Minimum of three years’ experience monitoring and operating building automation systems.
- Computer-based energy management systems and DDC control experience preferred.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Combination of education and relevant experience may substitute for education or experience requirements.
Schedule
- Sunday & Monday: 10 PM – 6 AM
- Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 6 AM – 2 PM
Pay
Per Collective Bargaining Agreement.
