Operating Engineer
About the role
As an Operating Engineer, you will independently perform journeyman-level duties, responsible for daily operational issues concerning the energy plant, hospital, and associated equipment/systems. You will design, construct, install, or maintain building systems and equipment, ensuring safety, functionality, efficiency, and occupant comfort. You will monitor equipment/system problems and recommend solutions for optimal facility performance. Success requires extensive technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety and efficiency, excellent problem-solving, and autonomous work with high operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate high-pressure boilers
- Operate chillers and absorbers
- Compile water treatment reports
- Perform maintenance on boilers, chillers, pumps, steam pipes, and related machinery
- Operate automated building control computer and make corrections as required
- Operate and adjust air handling equipment
Requirements
- High School Graduate or High School GED
- At least 5 years work experience in power plant operating or successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in power plant operation or equivalent within Healthcare or a related field

$18.96 - $26.78 per hour
