Operating Engineer
About the role
The Operating Engineer will independently perform journeyman-level duties, responsible for daily operational issues concerning the energy plant, hospital, and associated equipment/systems. They will design, construct, install, or maintain building systems and equipment, ensuring safety, functionality, efficiency, and occupant comfort. They will also monitor equipment/system problems and recommend solutions for optimal facility performance.
Success in this role requires extensive technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety and efficiency, excellent problem-solving, and autonomous work with high operational standards.
- Operates high-pressure boilers.
- Operates chillers and absorbers.
- Compiles water treatment reports.
- Performs maintenance on boilers, chillers, pumps, steam pipes, and related machinery.
- Operates automated building control computer and makes corrections as required.
- Operates/adjusts air handling equipment.

Requirements
- Two years’ experience with boiler operation.
- Other Steam plant third grade engineers course (NAPE)
- Third Grade Station Engineer: NE, upon hire
- High School GED General Studies, upon hire
- First Grade Station Engineer: NE, upon hire
- Second Grade Engineer: NE, upon hire
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should possess a valid driver’s license and a current CPR certification.
Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of HVAC systems, ability to read and interpret blueprints, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Pay
The posted compensation range of $22.51 - $31.79 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Shift: Night
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Weekly Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday (11:00pm - 7:30am)
