Operating Engineer
About the role
The Operating Engineer at CHI St. Vincent Health is responsible for maintaining, operating, and repairing critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within the healthcare facility. The role involves responding promptly to equipment breakdowns, emergencies, and alarms to minimize disruptions to hospital operations.
Responsibilities
- Learns to operate new equipment, test equipment, tools, and/or software as soon as possible after receipt.
- Maintains purchase request and other financial files in a legible, orderly, and timely manner.
- Works with other crafts and coordinates with them to ensure work is completed on schedule.
- Consistently produces a satisfactory quantity of work with no decrease in quality.
- Communicates and performs work satisfactorily under stressful conditions.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with a broad range of personalities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Boiler License in the State of Arkansas required.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must demonstrate proven experience as an Operating Engineer in a healthcare setting or similar environment. In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems is essential.
Skills
Proven ability to operate new equipment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under stress are required.

Pay
The posted compensation range is $18.96 - $26.78 /hour, reflecting the lowest to highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
