Operating Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operate, control, and monitor all mechanical and electrical systems using I-VU the building management system.
• Use I-VU to inspect buildings for any issues or concerns regarding the equipment in the buildings.
• Develop the schedule for operating buildings for the Plant Manager or Director of Facilities.
• Alert proper authorities and management in the event of equipment malfunction, critical alarms, or emergencies according to the Operations Manual.
• Maintain proper records and files, including shift logbooks.
• Contact the Sheriff’s Office as needed during evening and overnight shifts.
• Issue system work orders when necessary.
• Dispatch maintenance personnel in response to service requests as needed.
• Participate in system and safety training sessions as directed.

Requirements

• High School graduate, trade / technical school a plus.
• Active NJ Black Seal Boiler Operator license required; Blue Seal Refrigeration license preferred.
• Two years of directly related experience.
• Chiller operations and cooling tower experience a plus.
• Must be able to operate chillers, cooling towers, and automated building controls software within 90 days of hire.
• Must work shift hours and overtime hours as required.
• Intermediate computer literacy skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and specialized software programs.
• Valid Driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Able to climb ladders, bend, stoop, or kneel for extended periods.
• Able to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as requested.
