About the role
The OpenShift/Cloud Engineer will be accountable for engineering, support, automation, and thought leadership related to the client’s Platform-as-a-Service offerings. Responsibilities include assisting with application migrations to the client’s PaaS and other related activities.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operationally support Red Hat OpenShift (OCP 4.6 through latest stable version).
- Migrate and refactor applications to containerized workloads.
- Provision and manage multi-node high-availability clusters, including monitoring, performance testing, and application deployment.
- Automate deployments using configuration management and scripting technologies (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Python).
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Jenkins, or comparable substitutes.
- Document processes, share knowledge, and train team members.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues in a multi-tasking environment.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively through written, oral, and digital formats.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of Linux containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and containerized application/microservices architectures.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience with Java, JBoss, nginx, Node.js, and enterprise application architectures.
- Hands-on experience with at least one configuration management/scripting technology (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Python).
- Strong understanding of DevOps concepts, tools, and practices.
- Working knowledge of networking topics (protocols, firewalls, load balancers).
- Willingness to document, share knowledge, and train team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VMware technologies (vCenter, vRA, vRO) and running OpenShift on bare metal.
- Working knowledge of SSL certificate management.
- Experience with Agile teams, tools, and practices (Kanban, stand-ups, sprints).
- Familiarity with container and pod-level monitoring and logging (Dynatrace, QRadar).
- Experience working with IBM Cloud and/or AWS.
- Awareness of relevant industry standards and emerging technologies.
