OpenShift/Cloud Engineer

About the role

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite). Duration: 1 Year. In‑person interview required.

The OpenShift/Cloud Engineer will be accountable for engineering, support, automation, and thought leadership related to the client’s Platform‑as‑a‑Service offerings. The role includes assisting with application migrations to the client’s PaaS offerings and other related activities.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure design, deployment, and operational support (OCP 4.6 through the latest stable version).
• Deep knowledge of Linux containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and deployment of containerized applications/microservices architectures.
• Minimum 2 + years working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.
• Experience with Java, JBoss, Nginx, Node.js, and enterprise application architectures.
• Specific experience migrating and refactoring applications to containerized workloads.
• Proficiency in at least one configuration‑management or scripting technology (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Python).
• Experience provisioning multi‑node HA clusters, including monitoring, performance testing, and application deployment.
• Familiarity with automated deployment tools.
• Strong understanding of DevOps concepts, tools, and practices.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, or comparable alternatives.
• Analytic skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Outstanding communication skills for conveying complex technical issues and producing comprehensive written, oral, or digital documentation.
• Working knowledge of networking topics such as protocols, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Willingness to document, share knowledge, and train team members.
• Working knowledge and adaptability to the latest stable OpenShift version.
• Preferred: Experience with VMware technologies (vCenter, vRA, vRO) and running OpenShift on bare metal.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of SSL certificate management.
• Preferred: Experience with Agile teams, tools, practices, and ceremonies (Kanban, stand‑ups, sprints, etc.).
• Preferred: Familiarity with container and pod‑level monitoring and logging tools such as Dynatrace and QRadar.
• Preferred: Experience working with IBM Cloud and/or AWS.
