About the Role

The University of Pikeville seeks an innovative, energetic, and collaborative candidate for the position of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Pathology. This full-time role is under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Biomedical Sciences and involves teaching, research, and service in Pathology. KYCOM is ranked second among all D.O. and M.D. granting medical schools in the U.S. for graduates practicing in primary care and second for those practicing in rural areas. Since 1997, KYCOM’s mission has been to educate physicians to serve underserved and rural areas, with an emphasis on primary care.

KYCOM is part of a team of approximately 550 medical students, 30 full-time faculty, and various clinical partners. The college is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains near a growing regional hospital, preparing graduates for high-quality graduate medical education residencies.

Responsibilities

• Teach in one or more Biomedical Science courses, including Human Pathology.
• Prepare lectures, lecture notes, learning objectives, PowerPoint slides, exam questions, and syllabi.
• Participate in and recommend curriculum development and evaluation.
• Foster an engaging learning environment with innovative pedagogical practices.
• Engage in research and other scholarly activities, including student collaborative research initiatives.
• Serve on appointed KYCOM Faculty and UPIKE Committees.
• Provide mentoring, advising, and guidance to students.
• Attend Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, new student orientation, and University of Pikeville Opening Convocation.
• Participate in Faculty Development.
• Assist in the selection of students to attend KYCOM.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Biomedical Sciences or the KYCOM Dean.

Requirements

• Earned Doctorate in Pathology or a related field.
