Open Rank Faculty, Oral Pathology

Part-time (0.5 FTE) faculty position in the Department of Specialty Dentistry responsible for development and implementation of the predoctoral curriculum in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine (including special needs dentistry) in the DDS program.

Responsibilities

• Development and delivery of the Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine (including special needs dentistry) curriculum for dental students in the DDS program, including course development, implementation, and student assessments for classroom, preclinical simulation, and clinical instruction.
• Occasional support with patient care across the DDS curriculum as needed.
• Active participation on college and university committees as assigned.
• Membership and participation in state and national professional dental organizations is strongly encouraged.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• DDS/DMD or equivalent.
• Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio for a Dentist License or a Limited Dental Teaching License.
• Qualified to be appointed as a faculty member in the College of Dentistry (rank commensurate with qualifications).
• Clinical proficiency in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine (including special needs dentistry).

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate of advanced education in Oral Pathology or Oral Medicine from a CODA-approved program.
• Experienced dental educator with expertise in curriculum and course development and teaching at the predoctoral level.
• Didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, accreditation of predoctoral dental education programs by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Able to collaborate with college administration to ensure ongoing compliance with CODA standards.
• Board eligibility or certification by the American Academy of Oral Pathology or the American Board of Oral Medicine.
• Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and university.
• Committed to building a humanistic culture/climate within the college and fostering student success.

• Must be able to utilize a phone, computer, and other office equipment.
