About the role

The James M. Hull College of Business is seeking a full time, tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to teach hospitality focused courses, including hospitality management, tourism, event management, services management/marketing, or related hospitality oriented business subjects. Candidates with strong industry engagement or professional experience in hospitality, tourism, lodging, food service, events, or related sectors are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching - 50% Course load will be three courses per semester term, or about 50% of workload.

  • Service - 10% Service in the college (committees)

  • Scholarship - 40% Research and faculty development

Requirements

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Holding (or receiving before the start of employment) a PhD in Hospitality Management or a closely related business discipline with a demonstrated focus on hospitality-related teaching, research, and/or industry engagement.
    • Commitment to excellence in teaching, industry-engaged scholarship, and student mentorship.
    • Demonstrated strong potential for impactful research and high-quality instruction.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Effective teaching experience in hospitality management at the undergraduate level.
    • A record of excellence in teaching and learning.
    • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
    • Published or forthcoming peer-reviewed publications.
    • Interest in interaction and relationship-building with local businesses, industry, and stakeholders.
    • Experience teaching hospitality-focused courses such as hospitality management, tourism, event management, services management/marketing, or related hospitality-oriented business courses.
    • Industry engagement and/or professional experience within hospitality, tourism, lodging, food service, events, or related sectors.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
    • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
    • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
    • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements);
    • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

  • This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

  • The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

  • Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

  • Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

  • Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
