Ontology Consultant

Responsibilities

• Advises clients on ontology strategy
• Led teams in the definition and execution of ontology design, implementation, and management
• Facilitates stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into ontology and semantic solutions
• Develops and maintains ontologies, utilizing semantic and data management best practices
• Affords and evaluates existing ontologies and makes recommendations for improvement and alignment with industry standards
• Provides training and guidance to clients and prepares documentation on the value, use, and maintenance of ontologies
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure efficacy and longevity of ontology solutions

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience developing and managing ontologies in business environments
• A strong understanding of ontology applications, design, and management principles and best practices
• Expertise in semantic standards such as RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL
• Hands-on experience with ontology tooling and management systems such as Protégé
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitative skills to work effectively on cross-functional teams and with stakeholders at all levels
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Science, Knowledge Management, Library Science, Management of Information Systems, Philosophy (Formal Ontology, Epistemology), Linguistics or other related field

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts, and experience working with ontology in the context of AI
• Understanding of typical solution architectures for semantic solutions

Pay

A range for a starting pay for this role is $110,000 to $150,000 with most candidates likely to fall in the lower half. This range does not guarantee a specific salary and may be adjusted based on the needs of the company and the candidate's qualifications.
