Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing remote nursing care to patients and assisting at the bedside.
  • Virtually administer patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Utilize virtual tools to communicate effectively with patients.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient/family to ensure understanding and comfort.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify and provide individualized care according to patient needs.
  • Develop/review/revise and individualize the plan of care to address ongoing nursing care needs and discharge planning.
  • Evaluate care plan for continuing care needs and/or referrals for discharge/transfer.
  • Collaborate with providers and other clinical disciplines as appropriate.
  • Perform tasks consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Maintain a professional behavior in attitude, demeanor, and interactions to achieve the organization's mission.
  • Communicate effectively to solve problems at the personal and unit level.
  • Participate in meetings and/or committees as needed to assist in decisions affecting the area/unit or organization.
  • Initiate action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risks to patients, families, or hospital employees.
  • Complete appropriate report forms for any risks (e.g., variance/incident reports, patient concern reports, maintenance requests).
  • Communicate unresolved issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Work within the scope of practice as defined by the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Review, delegate, and evaluate plans for appropriate utilization of staff at all levels of practice in accordance with the provisions of the state's Nurse Practice Act and the Professional Standards of Practice.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college of nursing required, or obtained within 5 years from date of hire for nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience: Five years previous inpatient nursing experience required. Experience in telehealth or virtual care preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.

Skills/Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR), Microsoft Office products, and virtual communication tools.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate (both verbally and written) with a wide variety of disciplines.
  • Able to demonstrate independent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Flexible and able to thrive in a multi-tasking environment.

Schedule

Schedule 24 hours/week on a rotating schedule Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 9:00pm. With the intention of this program moving to 24/7, weekend and/or night shifts may come soon.

Job Description
