Onsite FNP Instructor, Learning Lab- Indianapolis, IN - Part Time

The Instructor, Learning Lab is responsible for facilitating student learning and performance assessment in on-site Clinical Learning Labs. Student learning activities range from basic nursing skills to resolving patient care situations via high-fidelity simulation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Serves as a professional role model for students in dress, communication, deportment, problem solving, care delivery, and patient advocacy.
• Demonstrates understanding of and participates in implementation of the nursing program's philosophy and goals.
• Communicates constructive feedback to students.
• Evaluates students' clinical learning using evidence-based tools and measures.
• Makes appropriate student referrals for remediation or other needs in post-lab reports.
• Facilitates student advancement through the performance of basic nursing skills and resolution of patient care situations.
• Facilitates scenarios according to evidence-based standards and guidelines in simulated environments.
• Supports students in applying clinical judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, reflection, probing, and active listening.
• Identifies individual learning needs and promotes a safe learning experience.
• Works closely with Supervisor, Lab Faculty to moderate student and program costs and maintain lab operations.
• Participates in quality improvement measurements related to faculty and student satisfaction.
• Provides orientation and substantial support to new Learning Lab Instructors and Simulation Technicians.
• Aids in planning staff schedules and maintaining supply inventory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Active Nurse Practitioner license and current Nurse Practitioner Certification.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: MSN required (subject to state board of nursing regulations), Active Nurse Practitioner license and certification, 2+ years of professional work experience, experience with primary care procedures, and demonstrated subject matter expertise.
• Preferred Qualifications: Strong experience with distance education and distance learning students, experience in simulation-based education, and experience with integrated technology systems and tools.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

• This is an on-site only role.
