About the role

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking an Onsite Construction Manager or Engineer with an established track record to perform subcontractor oversight and/or Owner’s Advisor (OA) services at a wide variety of project sites around the country.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control and assurance inspections and report on findings.
  • Cookordination and oversight of non-conformance reporting and closeout.
  • Cookordination of contractor or subcontractor activities and ensuring adherence to project plans.
  • Define project scopes and objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Aid with complex RFIs and provide accurate responses.
  • Implement change management processes and communicate changes effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Cookordination of health and safety requirements to ensure the project meets company safety requirements.
  • Oversee contractor or subcontractor punch list activities to meet project closeout requirements.
  • Reporting of subcontractor and vendor budget performance and change management.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in construction management and project management techniques and practices.
  • Strong skills in managing contractor or subcontractor activities, monitoring progress, and managing schedules.
  • Excellent understanding of scope definition and ability to manage changes effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of contracts.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Typically, a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in construction management or related field.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of standard professional software such as MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with project scheduling (P6, MS Project) and construction management systems (Procore).
  • Experience developing project cost estimating.
  • Experience overseeing installation of electrical systems such as SCADA/I&C hardware/software.
  • Experience performing operations and maintenance activities and troubleshooting of plant processes.
  • Experience with the startup and commissioning of plant processes and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction practices involved with major wastewater construction projects.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work well both independently and on a team.
  • Current and valid driving license and good driving record.
  • Experience interfacing with project stakeholders such as owner, regulators, and other third-party stakeholders.
  • Ability to assist with business development and marketing teams, as necessary, to pursue new work opportunities.

Pay

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Schedule

Traveling construction engineers are granted regular rotations home, typically every 2 weeks, and are not restricted in how to use vacation time, though time away from a project must be coordinated with the project team to ensure proper coverage. Travel costs are reimbursed via per diem or submitted expense reports, depending on project specific requirements or limits.
