One Year Old Teacher

About the role

The One Year Old Teacher is responsible for the safety, care, and early developmental progress of children aged 12 to 24 months in a licensed daycare setting. A genuine love for working with early toddlers and a positive attitude are essential.

Responsibilities

• Daily Care & Hygiene: Assist with fundamental needs including diapering, potty training support, and feeding.
• Curriculum Implementation: Design and lead age-appropriate activities that promote language acquisition, motor skills, and social interaction through play, music, and storytelling.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment that adheres to Bright from the Start (BFTS) or state regulations.
• Parent Communication: Provide daily feedback to families regarding their child’s mood, developmental milestones, and physical needs via informal discussions or progress reports.
• Safety & Supervision: Ensure children are supervised at all times, including during transitions from home to the center or during outdoor play.

Requirements

• Pass a BFTS Criminal Background Check.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional childcare experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
• A strong understanding of child development and comfort with activities such as play, dance, and sitting on the floor with young children.
• Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
• Physical ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, and communicate effectively. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to Haves

• Early childhood education or CDA credentials (preferred but not required; training is offered).
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (preferred but not required; training is offered).
