Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients.
• Serve as a mentor and coach for the team.
• Absorb and distribute unit schedules.
• Create daily work plans for the team.
• Schedule staff for mandatory education.
• Maintain staff certifications.
• Select unit staff through peer interviewing.
• Provide feedback on team performance to the nurse manager.
• Assist in developing and achieving departmental budgets and goals.
• Manage payroll activities like timekeeping.
• Control material and supply usage.
• Communicate a shared vision, mission, and values within the department.
• Facilitate problem-solving to achieve quality outcomes.
• Train and educate on topics such as quality and patient satisfaction.
• Ensure patient/physician satisfaction and lead process improvement efforts.
• Implement and evaluate nursing care according to established standards.
• Create an atmosphere that supports high performance, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Facilitate communication among staff through various channels.
• Clearly communicate expectations and address issues objectively.
• Maintain ongoing compliance with regulatory standards through patient, EOC, and physician rounding.
• Maintain knowledge and competence in areas of management and clinical practice.
• Demonstrate flexibility between management and clinical roles.
• Participate in educational programs to enhance clinical/management experience.
• Model clinical and professional excellence.

Required

• Graduate of a RN nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support - CPR certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 5 - months.
