Oncology Nurse Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an Oncology Nurse Manager to promote growth and unlock possibilities at TriStar Centennial Medical Center. This role ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

Responsibilities

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring, and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on the unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit-specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills checklist.
• Maintain overall workflow of the unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals, and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• Minimum 4 years of related clinical experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience required.
• Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN), Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), or Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Certified Nurse (TCTCN) required within 18 months of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
