Purpose & Scope
The oncology clinical pharmacist is responsible for promoting evidence-based, cost-effective, safe and appropriate therapeutic regimens for inpatients and outpatients in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures. This individual will serve as a departmental resource and liaison to healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Precept pharmacy students and residents
- Performance evaluation based on measurable outcomes related to quality initiatives, cost containment, ADR prevention, and other metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or doctorate degree in pharmacy required
- Three years of clinical pharmacology experience required
- Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required
- BPS board certification in BCOP to be obtained within 24 months
- BPS board certification in BCPS to be obtained within 12 months
Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Completion of both an ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency program; or
- Five (5) years of clinical experience with 3 years specific to oncology; or
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program and 2 years clinical practice experience in oncology; or
- BPS board certification and at least 1 year of clinical practice experience in oncology
