Oncology Clinic RN - AHN Cancer Institute - Allegheny General Hospital - Full-Time

This role plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care by managing complex care for treatment and clinic patients. Working closely with healthcare teams, the position ensures the safe and effective management of oncology patients, including treatment-related side effects, chemotherapy side effects, and symptom management. It also provides complex care coordination and management for non-oncology patients with complex care needs.

Responsibilities

• Administer intravenous therapies following established protocols and guidelines. (40%)
• Monitor patients during infusion therapy, assessing for adverse reactions or complications to ensure a secure environment. (20%)
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. (10%)
• Adhere to infection control practices and safety standards; participate in ongoing professional development. (10%)
• Educate patients and families on infusion therapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care techniques. (10%)
• Maintain accurate patient records of infusion details and patient responses. (10%)
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Current State of PA RN licensure OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• CPR certification.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
• Experience in IV therapy.
• Experience in oncology.
• Experience in chemotherapy administration.
• Experience in ambulatory care.
• Infusion therapy certification.
