Oncology Account Manager, New England
About the role
As the Oncology Account Manager, New England, you will lead the launch of Avutometinib and Defactinib in low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC). Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, you will build strong customer relationships, execute strategic plans, and collaborate across functions to drive sales performance and align with Verastem’s vision. This role demands clinical and business acumen, data-driven decision-making, and a consistent track record of exceeding sales goals.
Responsibilities
- Master product clinical knowledge and articulate the value proposition of Avutometinib and Defactinib to healthcare professionals
- Meet business objectives compliantly and maintain deep clinical and marketplace knowledge in oncology
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of assigned accounts and key customers, including their perceptions of Avutometinib and Defactinib
- Use approved resources to educate stakeholders on product benefits, safety, and side effect management
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support patients across the care journey
- Understand complex account interdependencies to execute short- and long-term account plans with diverse stakeholders
- Design business plans aligned with brand strategy, allocating promotional resources efficiently and compliantly
- Analyze business, products, technical issues, and market dynamics to inform strategic decisions
- Influence beyond assigned geography by asking insightful questions to uncover customer needs across oncology accounts
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance personal and team performance
- Demonstrate patient-focused leadership and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Compliantly drive demand generation efforts with prescribers
- Identify and analyze trends in complex buying environments, including drug distribution channels, oncology GPOs, wholesalers, and specialty pharmacies
- Provide staff support at exhibit booths and displays
- Adhere to company and compliance guidelines, policies, and procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum of a BA/BS degree required
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical sales required
- Minimum 5 years of oncology and/or rare disease experience required
- GYN/Oncology experience preferred
- Oral drug experience preferred
- Ability to travel as required, including overnight and/or weekend travel; 50% overnight travel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to comply with customer credentialing and safety requirements (e.g., vaccinations, trainings)
- Passionate and self-motivated individual
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of geography and customer base
- Experience launching new products and/or indications
- Geographical account experience and strong relationships
- Oral drug experience
- Oncology experience in gynecologic oncology or ovarian cancer
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $180,000 – $215,000. Actual base salary will be determined by job-related skills, experience, internal equity, education, location, and market dynamics. Eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and a competitive benefits package.
